Our Story
The IB Lighting Story: Built by a Master Electrician
IB Lighting started in 2013 with a simple idea: people buying electrical equipment deserve advice from someone who has actually installed it. Our founder is a licensed Master Electrician whose field career includes electrical infrastructure work for Michigan utilities such as DTE Energy and Consumers Energy.
That background still decides what we stock and how we answer questions. Before we talk about a product, we ask about the load it has to carry, the service panel it connects to, and the code requirements your inspector will check. A generator that is one size too small, or a wire gauge that is one step too light, costs far more to fix after installation than to get right on the first order.
The company began with premium lighting, and the name still reflects that start.
