Standard consumer engines are designed for daily operation at varying loads. The G-Force is designed for an entirely different pattern: long standby periods at rest, brief weekly exercise cycles, and occasional but sustained full-load operation during outages that can last hours or days.
Design differences include pressure lubrication that delivers oil to all bearing surfaces from the first second of startup regardless of temperature, a long-stroke cylinder geometry that produces higher torque at lower RPM for better fuel efficiency and lower thermal stress, and a fixed 3,600 RPM governor tuned for 60Hz power generation rather than variable-speed automotive operation. The G-Force engine family powers every Generac Guardian residential model from 10kW through 26kW.
Generac rates G-Force engines for 10,000 to 15,000 hours of operation.
