The detector uses an advanced electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor to monitor the surrounding air for elevated CO levels. Carbon monoxide is an invisible and odorless gas that can be produced by generators, furnaces, water heaters, cooking appliances, vehicle exhaust, and other fuel-burning equipment commonly used in or around recreational vehicles.
When dangerous carbon monoxide levels are detected, the alarm activates a loud 85-decibel horn to alert occupants. A flashing red LED provides a visible indication during an alarm condition and also confirms that the detector is receiving battery power.
The alarm operates using one replaceable 9V alkaline battery, allowing it to provide continuous monitoring without requiring an electrical outlet or hardwired connection. Battery operation also keeps the detector working when shore power or generator power is unavailable.
A full-function test and silence button allows users to check the alarm’s operation and temporarily silence the horn when appropriate. The low-battery silence feature can temporarily quiet the low-battery chirp while the battery is being replaced.
